A History in Fine Jewelry:

Michelle Harris has been creating jewelry for over 10 years, but jewelry has been a part of her life for far longer. I guess you could say jewelry is engrained in her genes. Growing up she crawled around under the jewelers benches of her parents’ jewelry store searching for dropped diamonds in order receive cash rewards from her father. But even with such a long history of being in the field and two generations before her of jewelers, she never looked to go down the jeweler’s road.

A History in Antiques and Collectibles:

As a child, Michelle’s grandparents were antique dealers in New Hampshire and had a quaint little shop in their home. Her grandfather, a watch and clock repairer filled his home with clocks of all shapes and sizes. One of her favorite remembrances of visiting their home was hearing dozens of clocks would start to ding and chirp in a harmony of wonderful melodies when each hour came around. Combining her grandfather’s passion with her grandmother’s determination for hunting down great new finds, Michelle’s interests in antiquing was turned on at an early age. And with going to local estate sales to find interesting trinkets and antiques at such an early age, she learned that she had a unique gift for finding treasures that most people couldn’t see under the decades of dirt.

Schooling:

With an eye focused on the fine arts and graphic design, jewelry took a back burner throughout high school and college. It did however sneak into her life in the form of making wire wrapped and basic gemstone beaded jewelry in her spare time to supply her with some spending money throughout her “poor student” times. After changing majors from graphic design to 3D fine art a few years into college, her passion for jewelry design became more and more intense. By the end of college, she realized that creating wearable art was bringing her the most joy. Although a joy for fine art that came with the multiple drawing and painting classes is still inside of her, jewelry now occupies most of Michelle’s life.

Ultimately, it appears that everything eventually came full circle. A combined history of her parents and grandparents passions eventually led to Michelle’s desire to combine her background in jewelry and her passion for hunting down unique antique trinkets into a dream job.”
